The International Body Psychotherapy Journal, published twice a year, in the spring and the fall, is a collaborative publication of two sister body psychotherapy organisations:

It is peer reviewed by members of both associations, with experts from related fields.

We offer free pdf downloads of the journal and individual articles and a subscription service for the print version. Abstracts in several European languages are also available.

The Journal’s mission is to support, promote and stimulate the exchange of ideas, scholarship and research within the field of body psychotherapy as well as to encourage an interdisciplinary exchange with related fields of clinical theory and practice.

The joint publication evolved from the USABP Journal in response to tremendous growth in the field of body psychotherapy worldwide over the past ten years. As the field continues to expand, the Journal’s aim is to broaden its readers’ horizons by inviting submissions of original theory, qualitative and quantitative research, experiential data, and case studies, as well as comparative and secondary analysis and literature reviews from clinicians and researchers practicing in all healthcare fields across the globe.

Jacqueline A. Carleton, Ph.D. is the founding editor. Dr. Carleton’s expertise guided the United States Association for Body Psychotherapy Journal from 2001-2011 and launched the transition into the International Body Psychotherapy Journal in 2012, which she edited until 2015.

From 2015-2018 the Journal was edited by a team from the EABP under the leadership of Asaf Roelof Ben-Shahar, folded by Madlen Algafari 2018-2022.

The current Editor in Chief is Dr. Aline La Pierre from the USABP, who is assisted by Christina Bogdanova from the EABP.

The online Journal is published in the English language. When necessary the editorial committee seeks appropriate people who can read and evaluate papers in other languages.
